Events ✦ & about notokenclub
We're notokenclub, a bunch of builders, researchers and tinkerers from Chennai. We meet up to talk about AI, not to hype it, but to actually understand it and build with it. Here's everything we've done so far.
Event log ✦ what happened at each one
Where it all started. We met at a park pavilion in Chennai and spent the afternoon asking each other one question: what are you actually building? There were a few short talks, a lot of arguing on the benches, and way more people in the group photo than we expected. Before leaving, everyone stuck a note on our feedback board.
Our first meetup outside Chennai. It was a smaller group, so we pulled the benches into a circle and talked for hours about what everyone was working on. By the end our poster was covered in sticky notes. One of them said it was "more interactive than normal tech events", which we'll take.
Back in Chennai, we tried something new. Everyone picked a real-world problem, like e-waste or urban parking, and researched it the way a founder would: talking to people, digging through market data and looking at who is already trying to solve it. Then they pitched their ideas and defended them in front of the room. Three of them went on to write full research papers.
Something's brewing. Follow us on Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, or join the club to hear it first.
The story ✦ why we started
We're a group of people in Chennai who were tired of not having anyone to properly talk about AI and tech with. So we started meeting up every week to talk about what's going on in AI, tech and business, and to meet people who take this stuff as seriously as we do.
Nobody's selling anything, and nobody is too new to join. It's just good conversations, usually over chai. We started in Chennai, and now we've got people in Coimbatore too.
We meet in person every week and talk through what's happening in AI, tech and business. Out loud, not in a group chat.
We read research papers together and push each other to write our own. Three members already have.
Bring whatever you're stuck on, even if it only half works. Show it to the room and someone usually knows how to fix it.
Meetups, workshops and our researchathon. Chennai and Coimbatore so far, hopefully your city next.
